From our recent trip to the Cederberg, I took some of the deep red rock I picked up and made some pigment and oil pastels. This is definitely the most potent/rich pigment I have discovered to date. I am certain that the San tribes used this exact rock to make their rock paintings.

The rocks below were one of my most exciting colours to find besides green. It’s a light purple I picked up at 1300m above sea level on a peak in the Cederberg. I grinned these into a pigment powder and made some chalk pastels. Here are some photo’s:
