Thinking through Making with Dr Michele Whiting
I enjoyed the lecture and it has shed a lot of light on my journey of researching through and art practice.
I love the following paragraph from ’Visualizing research’: Our diverse family of creative disciplines has the potential to explore questions of great significance and value to our dangerous, damaged and broken world (’Visualizing research by Graham Alans 2016).
From the lecture – Recognise the space of making on the edge of the known or the unknown – we look to this. Explore the tacit (felt knowledge) and the explicit (read knowledge).
The following questions still needs to be completed:
Some prompts for reflection include:
a) Reflect on your position as a researcher and maker: It was to think about myself as a researcher through and art practice and to see theory and practice as a melting pot.
b) Has your understanding of research in a fine art context been changed, and if so, how?
c) How can you relate the lecture content to your own processes?
d) What would you change or work towards and why?
