I found that it was very helpful to be gently nudged 🙂 to make a start with the contextual study. All of the exercises, the presentation and lectures from the weeks prior meant that I already had some thoughts and ideas. All I had to do was to get it out on paper. I only managed to do a broad outline and plan to fine tune and add to it this week.
During the week that we had our Peer Review group meeting, I was unfortunately in a small fisherman’s village where the frequent power-outages was the cause of me not being able to attend the zoom meeting. The 4 hour power outage was in exactly the same time as out meeting and we had not wifi. I did however manage to send my 1000w document via our Fleet platform and I was able to read through the other student’s work.
The feedback I received was wonderful and helpful. It was so kind of them to send me some feedback in spite of the fact that I couldn’t attend the meeting. Anna sent me a link to a book by O’Donohue called Anam Cara. Anum Cara is a phrase that refers to the concept of a ”soul friend” used in religion and spirituality. It was fascinating to me that Anna linked this book to me, because counseling and psychology has always been near to my heart. Helping people on a emotional/spiritual level. I want to see how I can bring this concept into my practice without losing focus. Blair also emailed me with some feedback and mentioned a few artists that came to mind as they discussed my piece. Johannes Vermeer, Juno Calypso and Naomi Wolf. I am in the process of looking at these artists and can see why they have linked them to my work. Juno Calypso however is perhaps too much of a feminist but I enjoy her confrontational approach.
